Sausage

In Japan, “wiener” refers to a type of sausage. They are based on traditional German sausages but have been adapted to Japanese tastes. Japanese wieners are typically made with pork as the main ingredient. Chicken may be added in some cases, but pork is the most common choice. This is because pork is relatively inexpensive and flavorful in Japanese cuisine.

According to the Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS), wieners are defined as sausages made with sheep casings or sausages less than 20 mm in diameter. Even if they are not made with sheep casings, sausages 20 mm or more in diameter can be called wieners.

The store offers a variety of wieners with natural casings, artificial casings, and no casings at all.

Children love octopus wieners!
